I have this really bad habit of getting scissor-happy with perfectly suitable denim. Translation: Half of my shorts, including these, were once jeans. What can I say? I figured I wouldn't get much wear out of black denim during the summer so I adjusted accordingly. Also, I'm so happy to finally debut this top. It was a birthday gift from my co-workers that until now had escaped being blogged about.

I am painfully obsessed with the semi-tackiness that is light wash denim. Something about this perfectly worn-in fabric conjures up imagery of ice cream trucks, bikes and bonfires... Childhood if you will. Will you be wearing this trend? (You already know my answer!)

a day in paradise

A couple of weeks before Christmas, I was innocently perusing Mother Denim's Spring 2012 lookbook. I flipped the page and there they were... Jeans with a freakin' landscape on them. I immediately placed a special order through work and had been eagerly awaiting their arrival ever since. And let me tell you, they were worth the wait. These babies are surprisingly flattering and fit like a dream. (Obviously I'm bat-shit about this printed denim trend!)

On a side note... Along with your sweet comments, you guys sometimes leave me questions. I'll be honest, I'm not the best at remembering to answer them. i wanna americana

Between the light wash denim and the American flag tee, it's clear I'm super into some sort of summertime nostalgia... thing. (For further evidence see my American Obsession board on Pinterest.) Also, you may have noticed I dropped off the interweb radar for a bit. Sometimes, I just need to step back [read: ignore] the blogosphere in order to continue loving it. Everyone needs a vacation now and then, but I have to say, I'm happy to be back!

what's in my bag

The Bag: Linea Pelle Alex Zip Speedy in Black - Gotta tip my hat to this LA-based line. They make buttery soft bags that can withstand the daily grind. (Can't wait to get my hands on a suede version for Summer!)

1. Planner [similar] - To put it kindly, I'm pretty absent minded. Writing everything down helps keep me on task.  Also, having a to do list I can physically check off soothes that "I have so much to do" feeling.

2. iPod & Anya Hindmarch Music Pouch [similar] - Because music is a part of daily life... and I have a terrible reputation for cracking and scratching iPods. There's even a separate compartment for your ear buds.

3. Oliver Peoples Lindord Sunglasses in Gold - They're a classic, 'nuff said.

4. Cynthia Vincent Makeup Pouch - I don't know about you, but I hate spending an exorbitant amount of time searching around a vortex errr, purse for makeup. This way, I have everything in one place.

5. Business cards, Altoids Smalls & Revlon nude lipstick

6. Diane von Furstenberg Zip Around Wallet - Small wallet = I hold on to less junk. Cheers to that!
